I usually dwell in two extremes of Art and I love creating both.

Stream of Consciousness Art is something that comes naturally to me. I start with a line or a shape , it can even begin with a mistake. I begin to impulsively build shapes, values and lines together to create…something. The canvas is a blank sheet of unknown potential. You may ask me what it is I want you to see. Most of the time the answer does not rest within the artist, but instead within you, the viewer.

My Stream of Consciousness pieces often develop out of my own sense of aesthetic, which may or may not lie within the realm of the familiar. However I find that most viewers, when given the freedom to interpret on their own, will see all manners of things. This is where I feel Stream of Consciousness Art is most successful – tantalizing the eyes and stirring the imagination.

On the other end of the spectrum we have Realism. It wasn’t until 2008 that I really began to see Realism as one of my artistic options. That was when I started using colored pencils to create art. For my first piece I decided to give a simple tomato a go, it was with this piece that I decided that I really liked working with colored pencils. More importantly I found that I could render very detailed subjects fairly realistically with colored pencils.
